Artist Statement
I work primarily with thematic art, specifically dealing with music, text, and the beauty of black women. I work towards creating a space of contrast where the figures, shapes, and colors have a presence or personality of their own. I appreciate the complexity and richness of African American art and am inspired by several of today’s artists including (but not limited to) Kadir Nelson, Aaron and Allen Hicks, Gerald Ivey, and R. Isaac.
I have aspirations of taking my art to another level, doing things that no one else has, creating and sending a message that could change the world of art.
